Parks Funding Threatened
The California Court of Appeals ruled against the County of Riverside in a lawsuit brought about by a resident of the City of Wildomar regarding an improper establishment of the assessment district that pays for the operating and maintenance costs of Wildomar's parks.
The County and City have jointly paid thousands of dollars defending the City of Wildomar's residents against this lawsuit and several others of the same nature. "This will have devastating consequences for the children of our community who may not have parks to play in", said Mayor Moore.
The City Attorney's Office is reviewing the Courts opinion in order to analyze the affect it will have on the City's budget. Mayor Moore went on to say, "It's too bad some people think it's more important to waste taxpayer dollars with costly lawsuits that directly hurt families in Wildomar. There are alternatives, like working with our new City administration to address issues. We incorporated so we can work with our residents to solve problems. I guess some people think wasting tax dollars to make a point is better than working together. It's very disappointing."
Our City Attorney is reviewing the court documents. Once we have all the information, know all our options and make a plan of action more information will be sent out. Mayor Pro Tem Marsha Swanson and I are on the Wildomar Parks Sub-Committee and we will have a meeting, just as soon as we, can to inform the public of the situation.
